FAQ

Straight answers

Getting started, money, safety and health, travel, and privacy and trust. If your question isn’t here, ask us directly, a free consultation in your language is the easiest way to get clear answers.

Getting started

Are you a hospital?
No. We’re a medical-travel facilitator and concierge service. We coordinate your surgery at a partner hospital and handle the travel, accommodation, translation, logistics and aftercare around it. We don’t perform surgery or give medical advice.
What do I actually get by booking through you?
One coordinator who knows your case, the whole trip bundled into a single plan, help choosing the right hospital and surgeon, no language barrier at any stage, and support if anything changes. It’s designed to make a major surgery abroad feel manageable, without taking away your direct relationship with your medical team.
Do you contact the hospital for me?
Yes, that’s the core of what we do. We collect your medical information, arrange the surgeon consultation, schedule surgery and relay everything in between, so you’re never left navigating a hospital in another language. You can always speak with your surgeon directly when you’d like, we’ll arrange it.
Can I speak to the surgeon, or to past patients, before I decide?
Yes. We can arrange a consultation with the surgeon, and, with their explicit consent, connect you with patients who are willing to share their experience. We never share anyone’s details without permission.

Money and commitment

How much will it cost?
Every figure on this site is an indicative guide for a coordinated package, not a fixed quote. Yanhee publishes official prices (shown in EUR and THB); for Wansiri and Asia Cosmetic we show “from ~€” ranges. A firm quote is only possible after the surgeon reviews your case at the consultation we arrange. See our pricing & packages page.
What’s included in a package?
Typically surgery at your chosen hospital plus accommodation, airport and appointment transfers, interpreting, coordination and aftercare. The exact bundle depends on your procedure and stay length, and we set it out clearly in your guide quote.
How do I pay, and when?
Payment terms are confirmed with your formal quote after consultation. We’ll explain exactly what’s due, and when, before you commit to anything. Nothing on this site is a request for payment.
What is your cancellation and refund policy?
We set out exactly what is refundable, and what isn’t, in writing before you pay anything, so there are no surprises. Specific terms can depend on the hospital and how close you are to your surgery date, and your coordinator will walk you through them clearly.
How are you paid, do you earn commission from the hospitals?
We’re transparent about how we earn, so you can trust that our hospital recommendations are based on your needs and not our margin. Ask your coordinator and we’ll explain plainly how our fees and any hospital arrangements work before you commit.

Safety and health

What happens if there’s a complication or an emergency during my stay?
You’re not on your own. Your coordinator stays reachable throughout and liaises with the hospital on your behalf, arranging any additional appointments or care your surgeon recommends. We’ll walk you through how this is handled before you travel, so nothing is a surprise.
Do you help if I need revision surgery, and who covers the cost?
We coordinate any follow-up or revision care your surgeon advises, in Thailand or after you’re home. How costs are handled depends on the hospital and your situation, and we explain this clearly in writing before you commit.
Should I take out travel or medical insurance?
We strongly recommend appropriate travel and medical-complication cover for surgery abroad, and we can point you to what to look for. We’ll cover this as part of planning your trip.
What are the eligibility requirements?
Partner hospitals follow WPATH-style Standards of Care. That usually means a period of hormone therapy, mental-health readiness assessment letters, and being over the relevant age threshold (generally 18+, sometimes 20+). We help you understand and prepare what your hospital requires.
Should I stop hormone therapy before surgery?
Some procedures involve adjusting hormone therapy beforehand, but this is always confirmed by your surgeon at consultation. We help you gather and follow whatever instructions your hospital gives. This isn’t medical advice.

Travel and practical

How long will I need to stay in Thailand?
It depends on the procedure. MTF genital surgery generally means around 2 to 4 weeks in country; facial surgery often less; staged FTM phalloplasty spans much longer with multiple stages months apart. We plan the full stay with you.
Do I need a visa, and how long can I stay?
It depends on your nationality and how long your procedure requires you to stay. We help you understand the requirements and plan your trip around your surgery and recovery dates.
Can I travel alone, or should I bring someone with me?
Many patients travel alone and are fully supported by our team on the ground. If you’d prefer to bring a companion, we help plan for that too, and we’ll talk through what suits your procedure and recovery.
My passport name or gender marker doesn’t match how I present. Will that cause problems at the airport or hospital?
This is common and manageable. We brief you on what to expect at immigration and hospital admission, and our interpreters and coordinators are there to smooth it. You won’t be navigating it alone.
Which languages can you support?
Our coordinators support international patients in several languages, including English, Turkish, French, German, Russian and Italian. The website is in English; the support is multilingual.

Privacy and trust

Who are you, and are you a registered business?
Gender Affirming Thailand is operated by Flymedi BV, a medical-travel company. Knowing who you’re trusting matters, especially for something this personal, so we’re glad to share our full registered details on request and to connect you with a named coordinator, a real person you can reach throughout.
Is my privacy protected?
Yes. Gender identity is sensitive, special-category information and we treat it accordingly. We only collect what we need to coordinate your care. See our privacy & cookies page.
Do you use before/after photos?
Not of identifiable individuals on these pages. Any future galleries would sit behind a clear, consent-based gate with a content warning. We publish testimonials only with explicit written consent.
